Bigues i Riells town hall

The project suggests a new town hall typology for a new society model. It is organized in ground floor around a central “patio” which emphasises the transparency and the efficiency of the civil servant work, avoiding the hierarchy of its areas. The heart of the building is like a big hole which evokes old cloister’s architecture and a spiritual conception of life.

The town hall’s balcony is located in its roof, escaping from what it is usual, placing it closer to the world of ideas, like a balcony staring the horizon, like a place for reflexion and communication. The balcony becomes the symbol of the town’s government.
